At White Smiles Family Dental, we know the importance of starting dental care young. With four kids of their own, Springfield dentists Dr. Preston White and Dr. Shannon White understand firsthand the need for good preventive care—and they genuinely love seeing children!
Here at White Smiles, we work hard to build trust with every child, so they feel safe while we take care of their oral health.
We pride ourselves on our family-friendly environment, and our entire team looks forward to taking care of your whole family, no matter how young or old. If you have a child who needs a new dental home, please give us a call today!
Your Child’s First Visit to the Dentist
We believe in seeing kids for a quick examination as soon as they start getting teeth, usually around their first birthday. This gives them a chance to try out the dental chair and get accustomed to the sights and sounds of the dental office. It also allows us to look for signs of early childhood caries as well as note any developmental issues with teeth.
It’s also essential for us to spend some time with parents so we can address any questions or concerns they might have about their child’s oral health. We like to talk about the foods and drinks that are most likely to cause dental decay, as well as appropriate snacking.
The younger a child starts coming to the dentist, the more comfortable they will be receiving dental care as they get older. They are also more likely to grow up to be adults who take care of their teeth and gums.
Pediatric Dentistry for Your Child’s Good Oral Health
For kids who might be prone to cavities, we offer preventive measures such as fluoride treatments and dental sealants. Fluoride treatments help teeth stay strong and healthy and resistant to dental decay. Dental sealants are applied to the back molars, keeping food particles and bacteria from taking hold in the deep grooves of those teeth.
If problems do arise with your child’s oral health, you'll be glad to know that we offer all aspects of children’s dentistry, including fillings, crowns, pulpotomies, space maintainers, and extractions. If your child is particularly anxious about sitting in the dental chair or needs a more extended treatment, we offer nitrous oxide to keep kids calm.
A Positive Experience for You and Your Child
Our commitment to building a supportive partnership with children and parents means good oral health for all. Our goal is to create healthy smiles for life, and the sooner we start, the better!
