In our dental office, we love helping our patients create straighter smiles using Invisalign Clear Braces.
A straight smile is not just attractive, but also healthier in many cases. Crooked or misaligned teeth can make keeping your teeth and gums clean more difficult. With crooked teeth, you’ll have more nooks and crannies in your mouth, and they are easy to miss when brushing and flossing your teeth.
Fortunately, Invisalign aligners make straightening your teeth easy, convenient, and discreet. Since Invisalign aligners are practically invisible, no one even has to know you are wearing them!
At White Smiles Family Dental, we want you to get the most out of your Invisalign treatment, so we’ve put together five tips to help you get the most out of your teeth straightening solution:
1. Wear Your Aligners for 22 Hours Per Day
For your Invisalign treatment to work, you must wear your aligners as prescribed by your dentist, which means at least 22 hours of wear per day! If you do not follow the instructions and slack on wearing your aligner, your teeth straightening treatment will not be successful.
2. Take Care the First Two Days
The first two days of your Invisalign treatment are important. During those first 48 hours after receiving your aligners, you should be wearing your aligner constantly, only removing the aligner to brush your teeth. This regular wear at the very beginning ensures that your teeth adapt to the aligners and that you get used to wearing them.
3. Don’t Be Put Off By Initial Sensations
Initially, your Invisalign aligners will probably feel strange in your mouth. Invisalign clear braces are known for their comfort, but no matter how comfortable a device is, you may recognize that the device is present at first. Just like with glasses, you have to get used to wearing them. The best way to speed this process is to wear your aligners as often as you can.
4. Follow Directions on Aligner Changes
Follow your dentist’s instructions when it comes to changing your aligners. Dr. Preston White or Dr. Shannon White will know which aligners you need at specific times to best create your straighter smile.
5. Practice Talking
Whenever you have something in your mouth, it can affect your speech. Invisalign braces are discreet and comfortable, but you may want to practice talking with your aligner when you first get it just to make sure you feel secure when wearing your aligners in public. Feeling free to talk and laugh with your aligners will help boost your confidence, making you more likely to wear them!
